Kwandwe Ecca Lodge

Kwandwe Ecca Lodge is situated within the Kwande Private Game Reserve near Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape. The malaria-free reserve flanks both the north and south banks of the Great Fish River and is home to, among other wildlife, free roaming Big 5. Birding enthusiasts will be delighted at the opportunity to spot the endangered blue crane as Kwandwe aptly means “Place of the Blue Crane” in isiXhosa.

With only six contemporary suites, Kwandwe Ecca Lodge’s retro décor, pop art prints and trendy colour schemes make for a wildlife experience for those who are young at heart. Ecca Lodge enjoys magnificent views over an Acacia Aloe and Spekboom-studded valley, with rooms that flow seamlessly into the outdoors. Each suite has its own private verandah and plunge pool, while the expansive wooden viewing decks at the main lodge provide for excellent game-viewing opportunity.

Guests at Kwandwe Ecca Lodge can enjoy a host of traditional and specialist safari activities, such as 4x4 game drives, rhino monitoring and darting, big game walks and water-based safaris. Ecca Lodge welcomes families and children and offer an entire play centre with various activities to keep the young ones busy. Historical and cultural tours to nearby ancient San rock art sites and neighbouring forts and military towns can be arranged on request.

Guestbook Reviews

In the heart of South Africa’s Eastern Cape, Kwandwe is a land to learn from, to listen to, and to love. A land where the life of the animals is not interfered with by man unless it’s a problem caused by man. So we listened, we learned, we loved, and we left with the gift of our unique experience at this incredible place on God’s earth.
