Saruni Mara

Saruni Mara

On the outskirts of the Masai Mara National Reserve of Kenya, the Saruni Camp has simply breathtaking views of the Mara plains where the world-famous Serengeti migration – one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa – can be seen from the privacy of your verandah.

Saruni Camp is part of a renaissance movement in the Mara and practices low-impact and sustainable tourism. The lodge offers six exquisite cottages, each decorated according to an individual theme by Kenyan architect Mark Glen. The large cedar beds, colonial antiques, Persian carpets and African art in each cottage evoke an old-world charm.

For a truly unique experience, Saruni offers “Warriors for a week” where you and your family can spend time with the local Maasai people, a semi-nomadic people known for their beauty and deep love and understanding of the nature. Learn how to use a bow and arrow like a true Mora or Maasai warrior.

Guestbook Reviews

We returned to Saruni Mara for 5 nights in mid September 2012 (one year after our first visit). Once again we had a fantastic stay and were pleased to meet the staff again. Saruni now has a family villa which was great for my wife, daughter and me. The villa has two separate, luxury suites with a huge lounge/dining area linking the two suites. In the evening we experienced showering whilst watching a herd of buffalos grazing close to the tented suite.
